Half of my Kingdom

As the king came to love Esther he offers her some very extravagant gifts but even when she is offered half the kingdom she refused them. She didn’t want a house or a horse with ten carriages but made it clear she only wanted the king to come to her banquet. Come and be my guest so I can entertain you.  She thought of giving not getting, whereas others like Judas asked “What will you give me.” He was thinking of personal gain. Later that night they were all at the banquet, but Haman the official who hated Jews and was seeking to kill all Jews, was there too. She is still able to worship him completely even though there was an enemy at the table.  In the midst of her trouble her focus was still on the king.  The highest form of worship is when we can worship with the enemy at our table or in our circumstances where He is still more important than the trouble and more important that the enemy. In that moment the king understands what the enemy was seeking to do Esther’s people. Here for the first and only time in the bible, king and queen are mentioned in the same sentence. He completely identifies with her. Her enemies have become His enemies.

Friend, when we have favor with the king, we don't have to beg for his help; he stands up for you.   We only have to stand still and see the salvation of the lord.
