The Home Front- The battle for marriage and family
Two years before I was married, I was staying in a hut with a few guys in the mountainous region of Ruapehu in the middle of the North Island, New Zealand. We had been there one day and at night about eleven pm, we heard the faint muffled conversation of people coming down the steep track toward the hut. We were shocked to discover it was Clive our deerstalker friend and his wife. Sometimes it might be nice to take your wife with you on a deer stalking trip if she is keen but this night was their honeymoon. They had been married less than twelve hours and this was their first night. I doubt that she was very happy especially when she realised the hut was full of other men. While most of us would not have attempted that, it seems that Clive like many men, had little idea about how to make a woman feel special or what it takes for a couple to live happily ever after. I don’t think we have the perfect marriage but this small book is my contribution to strengthen homes and outlines some of the things we have learned in our 40 plus years of living and learning together. Much of what I write I have learned from numerous books that I have read on marriage and family. I have preached it and tried to live it. I also found out it is easier to preach it than live it.
