Disciples?

To truly become a disciple, someone has to help you. Only a disciple can make a disciple, just as only a sheep can make a sheep. Who is going to teach you, challenge you and stretch you? You can’t disciple yourself. If you could, Jesus wouldn't have said to His disciples to go and make some more. A disciple is someone who is disciplined to hear, believe and obey the will of Jesus.

Discipline is usually gained from other people, like teachers, parents or leaders until it is internalized. Because we need others to help us grow, we should be open with someone we trust. Humble yourself before God, as all grace comes from being humble. Don’t hide behind fear or lies, but humbly ask for Gods help. A blessed life comes from being poor in spirit. Recognize that you may have areas in which you need to grow. That life may have left you empty inside or without the internal strength to stand up against the world.

Part of being discipled is to begin to bond with other friends in the body of Christ where you can be rooted and grounded in love through other believers who are “full” of Grace and truth; full of Jesus! You will have to start by being a little vulnerable; it won’t be easy and will take courage, but make the choice to move toward wholeness. Begin to share with someone about something; make a start.

You can be with others and still be emotionally isolated. We have to be vulnerable, which means to take down your defences. You can do that with everyone but you need to find someone.
Friend, you can’t go back and make a new start but you can make a brand new ending. Let someone in to help you.
