The film “Transformation” showed a village in Fiji that 100 years before had killed and ate a missionary bringing a curse upon the village and. Nothing grew there very well and the whole village felt oppressed for all that time. When the villagers repented of the sins of their forefathers, the blessing of God was able to flow again in the village. The problem was not their own sin, but the sin of their fathers.

We can be affected by the sins of our forefathers. If you have had father or grandfather in the Masonic lodges, occult activities or false religions the iniquity and bondage of that religion can get passed on and operate in our life till we confess and repent of it for our family line. It is called an iniquity which Jesus was bruised for. (Isaiah 53) In Old Testament trouble passing from one generation to another is a continual theme, and while the cross and the blood of Jesus works to cleanse us of our own sin sometimes if the iniquity of our fathers is not confessed and forgiven by God, our family line remains affected by the curse.

Involvement with the occult or false religions is an abomination unto the LORD, (Deut 18:9-12) so obviously the devil claims those involved, as his and gains access into their lives and family.

Friend, like Nehemiah, you may need to repent for the iniquities of your forefathers before you and receive God forgiveness. Do it once and do it well.
