Going yonder
As the morning sun casts long shadows over the desert hills, Abraham and his son Isaac, slowly climb to the top of Mount Moriah. God had asked Abraham to sacrifice his son in worship to the lord. Abraham wasn’t in a hurry that day but he bravely said “Let us go yonder to worship.” (Gen 22)Yonder is not here or close by or an easy place to get to. It is out there, further up, and further along. It’s some place that you can’t describe where you will meet with God and worship Him.Worship is always further than we’ve been before. Worship is not an easy place to come to. Jesus said to his disciples “Stay here, I am going to go further,” and then He worshipped His Father.Abraham said I go to a place. He did not know exactly where that place was, but he would know it when he got there. When we come to worship God we don’t know either, where we will meet with God, but we will know it, when we get there. I can’t tell you where it is, but it is away based upon the three day sacrifice of Jesus (Rom12)To worship you have to “go yonder” like Abraham. Worship demands something from us that nothing else does. It's “yonder” because it’s a place out there. We have to leave home base, leave our comfort zone. Go from people and places that you are used to. You often don't find others prepared to go there.Friend, worship is a journey. It is a decision to go yonder. We don’t drift into worship and intimacy with God; it is a choice we make. Let’s be like Abraham who said I’m not going to go home till I’ve worshipped Him.
