Thoughts that bind

When I was a child I lived with my family in an old farmhouse. The rooms had very high ceilings and didn’t feel that cosy. Outside the window, there was a rafter that stuck out from the roof and it always s appeared to me as if a possum was trying to get into my window. My fearful thoughts would keep me in bed, particularly if I thought that there was something under my bed, as well.

If you think there is someone under your bed, you don’t need to be chained in the bed. One thought can keep us in bondage, for the mind is more powerful than a chain. What a man thinks becomes reality for that person. Proverbs 23.7 says “As a man thinks, so is he.” If you don’t think you can change or don’t think God can help you change, He can’t. Our thoughts are conceiving our future and limiting our future.

To inherit Gods future for our lives, we have to think Gods thoughts first. Jesus was the Way, the Truth and then the Life. The thing that stands between you and what God has for you to enjoy in life, are lies. What kept the nation of Israel out of the Promised Land, was the lie, that the land was too hard for them to conquer. They were defeated by lies because they believed them to be the truth.

You need to believe the truth. When you become a child of God, you have an absolutely new future, totally different from anything that may have been true for you before. Now you should be doing things, nobody else in your family has ever done. Maybe go to university, own a business or a house or even just stay married all your life, because Jesus Christ is now living in you!
Friend, the truth is, you are a new creature. Don’t be snared with the words of your mouth or the thoughts of your mind.
