Marriage
I remember my pastor's wife saying years ago that when you have a Cadillac in the garage who was going to want to steal a Morris minor! Referring to a great relationship with your wife. Our marriage needs to be exciting and fulfilling. This maintains the feeling of specialness and helps married men in their fight against temptation. It is of great importance to spend the time building the romance of the marriage.
Satan tries to get us working too hard or too many hours till we lose perspective. We don't rest or play and in the end, we love too seldom. Satan then seeks to get people to meet legitimate needs in an illegitimate way. We should be deliberate about loving our spouse regularly, for all investment in each other ultimately, is good for both of you.
When we build each other up, we ourselves benefit, because we are one. If we lash out at each other, and justify ourselves individually, if we break the sacred bonds that unite us, we are only in the end, hurting ourselves.
Just as we try to assuage pain when our bodies hurt, so we need to comfort and forgive each other when we (inevitably) hurt each other. 1 Cor 7
In Paul's day, women had few rights, and most men thought of only pleasing themselves. Sadly, many men today still feel no obligation to please their wives. Men must look at every aspect of their marriage in their effort to please their wives and wives also are to please their husband. If wives work full-time outside the home husbands have a special obligation to share in the chores of raising children and housework.
Friend, if both husband and wife seek to please God and find ways to please each other, then the marriage will be a lot more heavenly!
