Our cup runs over
In Bible days, when you where the guest of the king, the king would hand you his cup as a sign of his grace toward you. It would normally be full of the King’s wine so the cup came to mean the portion or the allotment that the King gives you.David said his cup, his allotment in life, ran over. He felt that what God has given into his life was so much, it was running over and more than he could use or needed. His life overflowed with love to God and it over flowed onto the pages of the Psalms he wrote. When we overflow into the lives of others it generates a response from God. He pours out more onto our life, till it is pressed down, shaken together and running over. The over flow creates a cycle of overflow and blessing.
Friend, you can never leave God and not end up in want, but when we return to Him and He hands us the cup He has prepared for us, our life and lives will overflow.
