Dress to Impress
Esther was getting ready to appear before the king and she asked Hegai “What can I wear and do to delight and please the king?” She trusted him completely and he knew the kings likes and dislikes. All the women being prepared as possible brides for the king, were able to have anything they wanted to wear and no doubt they went shopping at the Kings expense. The Bible challenges us to please the Lord and not to please ourselves. One thing we struggle to grasp sometimes is the difference between being accepted in the beloved and living in ways that please God. Of course we are never saved by works or the way we live (2 Cor5.9) so we don’t have to please him to be saved but we will want to please Him if we are saved. Initially our faith in Christ pleases God and brings us into relationship with Our Father; after that, we will want to fellowship closer with Him.
Friend, pleasing God is not living in a certain way in order to get to heaven but to live a special way because we are going to heaven
